Huelva, Spain...OUT of SEQUENCE. YES, we HAVE already arrived in Portugal!

Image
Christmas is beginning to appear wherever we go!  Poinsettias seem to grow naturally throughout Spain   Here is a beautiful bed and there were HEAPS of them scattered in Huelva. Motorhome park was fine; hardly a soul there.  That is okay with us.  Super nice people in Reception.  A few pics of the town centre. Quiet, gentle place. Spanish colours! Yes...we adore DOORS! I was not ready to leave Spain...yet, so Tinto kept us there...a little longer.  We lingered.  However, we (I) have been advised that parts of Portugal will steal my heart, too.  SPAIN IS BLISSFUL. Happy Roaming, Tinto & Blanco

Review: Camping Playa Taray - Isla Cristina, Spain

28th November 2017 - This place received some bum reviews on Trip Advisor.  Tinto and I did discover that it has been under new ownership for a while.  We arrived after hours, rang a bell, and a delightful young chap (and handsome!) appeared on his bike to check us in.  Anyone looking for long term stay...it is ridiculously inexpensive.  For 13.00 Euros we had power supplied, too.  Shower area sparkling clean and facilities under renovation .  We experienced our very first real thunder storm, rain banging down all night long, but to our surprise and pleasure, the managers put wooden pallets at our doorstep.  The ground is soft sand...we were in a giant puddle, but everything was great. A lot of guests seem to be very long term.  You are a 2 minute walk to the beach.  We would absolutely return.  Thank you for a lovely visit.  Met a super guy from The Canary Islands, too.

Reviews & Trip Advisor...

For newer places or campgrounds and restaurants which are a bit obscure...I try diligently to place current reviews on this blog. For some previous reviews I have written, you can find them in Trip Advisor under Patricia Gordon-Stevens, Kapunda South Australia. IF you are heading to Cadiz, Spain pull off onto the ramp that goes to:  Venta La Prada in Gazules...SO inexpensive and delightfully GOOD regional food.  Trip Advisor has the full review. Vino after touring...Sevilla, Spain

Quaint, little outdoor/indoor cafe not even 5 minutes from Plaza de Espana!  FAB to sit outside, absorb the atmosphere and fun to people watch. Tinto says I have a story for every person I latch onto with my eyes. True...people reveal their stories in a myriad of ways.  Anyway, we did not eat, so I did not get name of place, but their champagne was pretty near perfect!  Charming...AND a place for ice bucket underneath each table.  Sweet. Seriously pondering life AND people gazing behind those dark glasses.  Fun, tiny tables with more COLOUR. View from our table...a bit overcast.  Tinto & Blanco happy to report Sevilla, Spain is filled with sights to enjoy.

Sevilla, Spain...24th of November, 2017

A visit to the Plaza de Espana is worthwhile.  The architecture is like no other I have seen. Tinto and I walked around, gazing upwards and not saying a word.  Astoundingly beautiful.  It was built in 1928 for the Ibero- American Exposition. YOU choose the way of travel you prefer.  I have to say the horses looked well maintained and the drivers gave them a lot of affection.  I hope this observation is true. Spaces such as these below were made for each county, tiled with vibrant colours and maps placed in floor below benches.  Truly charming.   Tinto and I spent at least 45 minutes here; could have stayed much longer, but we were feeling like a well-deserved glass of VINO!

Google Maps and IRIS!

What did we do before Google Maps and SAT-NAV?  I remember as a child travelling with my parents my Mother would have an enormous map on her lap and my Father would rely on her to read it correctly.  Some moments were tense - YES!  If you drove alone...you might be in a spot of trouble, too. Since Tinto and I have androids...we named our lovely lady who guides us along Iris (Siri backwards!)  MOST of the time she does a grand job; however, this week she sent us to 2 non-existent sites. Whole travelling , Iris says, 'If you just said something, I did not hear what it was.'   Yesterday...Iris stopped communicating in the middle of giving directions and Tinto and I looked at each other.  Another moment of silence and she announced, 'I cannot explain what just happened; I do not understand.'  WEIRD.  We thought for a second...this IS a bit strange. VERY STRANGE, but we cracked up! Iris became a real robot...and I truly wonder if we shall ev...

The Beginning of Portugal...29 November 2017

Tinto and I/we have hundreds of stories and pics to share, but...sometimes Wi-Fi does not cooperate.   Today, we followed our noses across the border into Portugal...and, I think...we ended up in a 1930's Hollywood Movie Set.  WHERE ARE WE?  Unbelievable.  I have been asking Tinto AND anyone who will listen to me this question all day long!!!  We are in a marvelous, fantasy campground that is TOO much fun and completely bizarre and far too INexpensive.  We are 4 kilometres from the Atlantic Ocean.  We are...supposedly...camping at Chez Eugene Caravaning Park, Rural - ROUTE 66 - Portugal.  Read that again:  ROUTE 66!  :-)  :-)  :-) !!!  Tinto & I have 2 Route 66 pillows in Mr. Horace.  We met Belgiums, Parisians, Croatians, Dutch...and a great British fellow from Manchester.  We have only travelled 80 kilometres and have gone BACK an hour on our clock.  We are the same as U.K. time...

Silliness in Sevilla, Spain!

Image
Tinto & I could not stop laughing!  Sevilla is a seriously interesting and sophisticated city...so we got this OUT of our system before the sights.  We love SPAIN and Roaming even more. Reporting from Sevilla...out of sequence, but that is how we ROLL. Safe Travels, Tinto & Blanco So many places to investigate.  Our interest has been piqued.

SOME people.

Leaving Sevilla, on the way to Huelva and we stopped to get some diesel.  Female dog looks as though she may have had pups a little while ago - ribs showing.  She keeps looking in the distance...in every direction.  I swear someone must have dumped her.  I approached her slowly and gave her the rest of my sandwich and she ate it like a lady.  She did not scoff it down and she appreciated every bite.  I looked at Tinto and he said, 'Don't even think about it.'  We would have at least 10 different animals on board Mr. Horace by now.  The owner of the shop said he would try to find her help and he would feed her.  Can't stand it...

A taste of 'The Rock of Gibralter'...

Image
Tinto and I had heard some horror stories of how difficult it could be to enter AND to leave The Rock of Gibraltar.  Nothing could have been further from the truth.  IF I remember correctly, no visas are necessary for Australian and U.S. passports, but always check The Rock website.  Many people walk through, but we chose to gently drive the little red scooter across and we followed the crowds.  First you meet Spanish border control and you are asked to show your passport.  Then, only and I do mean ONLY 3 FEET AWAY as you scoot a little further, the British agent stops you and asks you to show them once again.  I did not say a word...I ONLY SMILED.  Tinto asked politely if he needed to remove his helmet and the officer replied, 'Not necessary, sir!'  Whew...we made it through. We had no clue, no idea what we were about to experience.  Tinto and I follow our hearts and flow with no agenda or itinerary.  THAT'S a first for me....
