Alcazar De Malaga...worth the trip!

Hola...from Alcazar de Malaga built in the eleventh century.  Easy for me to type, but think about that date for a moment.  Walking back through history gives me chills and Tinto is keen to see as many castles and stone work we possibly can view on this holiday.  The port is below.  Everywhere in The Mediterranean...'above the port, you have a fort!' The Palace located inside the precinct was built in the eleventh, thirteenth, and fourteenth century.  I close my eyes and try to imagine the people and how they looked.  I wish I could listen in on ancient conversations, too.  The precinct is large and wide and is in line with the contours of the hill; placed perfectly for defense.  There is also an entire quarter for servants' dwellings and it must have been a sight to behold in its prime time.

 Orange trees throughout the grounds...

Cacti interspersed with trees.

We appreciate ancient
stone of all types.

Look-out area for the intruders.

See?  Tiny, precious stones encased
in terracotta tiles.  What an intriguing
floor to walk upon!

This star pattern is repeated in many places.  Again, the stonework is amazing.

This garden used to be splendid, (we were told)...but, I don't see how it could be improved.

Water works located in various areas and the drain work was impressive and working today.

Before Tinto and I entered this area, at least 6 or 7 dark coloured pigeons were having a drink.  Tinto goes to the right, I go to the fountain and ANOTHER white dove floats down and sits and looks at me.  My Mother comes to me in my dreams and is still looking over my shoulder.  At least, I like believing this.

Had to take a close-up of the last floor we walked across.  Fascinating.

An entrance to the Palace placed in interior of structure.  Inviting entrance.

Tinto and I recommend this site.  Discounts for seniors and pensioners.  No matter...admission was only 2.20 Euros this morning.  Steep stairs throughout, no safety rails, enter at your own pace and no need to rush anywhere especially in the OFF season.

Happy, Safe Roaming from:
