Adelaide Central Market to Clare Valley...

Tinto and I literally took some very precious and genuine moments to STOP and acknowledge the grand land of South Australia.  We gave thanks, too, that we are fortunate enough to live here.  We espoused the virtues of this spectacular state to our dear house guest repeatedly and with fervent enthusiasm.  We smiled at the land and each other.  We were inspired to raise our glasses and TOAST the dear Clare Valley.  Our new 'family member' KNOWS where we would like for her to live now, too.  Our other 'Georgia Girls' know fully well where we would like for them to reside, TOO!  Ha...in my dreams!

Even on dreary, grey days one cannot help but drink in the atmosphere and the sense of calm the Clare Valley provides.  No words are necessary...

The Clare Valley's climate is crisp and cool - far cooler than the Barossa Valley, hence the production of outrageously good Reisling wine.  The Clare Valley is natural and rolling with pockets of small, quaint, vanishing towns sprinkled along the way towards the heart.

The land is beyond dry.  This morning we woke to the news of a horrid fire near the city of Adelaide, raging in the hills.  Our thoughts are with the firefighters and the inhabitants of the Adelaide Hills.  South Australia is desperate - begging for the rain to swell its belly.  We have performed many rain dances of late, but...have produced no magic.

When you arrive in Adelaide (because we know, one day, you shall)...head directly to the Adelaide Central Market OR please allow US the pleasure of accompanying you there.  This is one of THE BEST treats Adelaide has to offer.

The new Slate Restaurant at Pikes Winery knows how to tempt your taste buds.  Everything slowly cooked - beautifully presented - we were not disappointed and once again, we were able to dine directly across from the vineyards.  WE BREATHED COLLECTIVELY.

GO.  Enjoy the pics ~ HOP ON A PLANE.  It's easy.  You will have some really funky tour guides known as 'Blanco & Tinto'.

Cheers...thinking of you,
The Roaming Stevens

PS:  Please excuse all typos.
 Tinto and Kate.
Welcome to Pikes on this very grey day.

 Feeling happy.  Sharing.
Stnnning new SLATE RESTAURANT ~ by the vineyards, of course!

Chef hard at work - open kitchen for all to SEE!

 Teeny-tiny quail eggs ~ aren't they exquisite?
I need these for my Memphis Devilled Eggs.
QUAINT.  PERFECT.  BEAUTIFULLY PRESENTED and
LOCALLY GROWN BABY GRILLED ASPARAGUS.
'WOW'
There is some sort of obsession with my sunglasses.
Everyone had a GO!

Look above near the top branch ~ the bark looks VERY different from
'other' trees.  WE LOVE GUM TREES.
A quick stop by a dear mate's place in the country.  There is nothing quite like Gum trees.  They genuinely appear to have 'skin' instead of bark.
Apparently, the cacti had JUST flowered.  The little yellow and white
flowers looked a lot like daisies.  Sadly...they were gone when we arrived.
 FAT, HEALTHY BOY.
Wandering Jew...one of my FAV plants, too.
LOOK at the COLOUR.
Heading back to Adelaide Central Market today!
 SUNSHINE!
LET'S GO NUTS!!!  More, please?!?
You cannot go wrong with The Adelaide Central Market.
Pure happiness ~ a little bit of heaven.
Come and discover for yourself!
HOW ABOUT THIS FOR THE PERFECT CHAIR?
Horseshoes galore.
A hearty 'Welcome Home' from Henry!
He will welcome YOU, too.
