Appellation ~ Fine Dining at its Finest!
A late post IS better than never. If you have not had a superbly prepared meal in a fine dining establishment lately...let me recommend Appellation in the beautiful Barossa Valley.
Remember - PLACE SOUTH AUSTRALIA ON YOUR 'To Do' list and JUST DO IT.
The dining area is relaxed and casual and unpretentious. One would never believe that meals would be presented so perfectly ~ each one outperforming the former, yet again, flavours subtle and quite spectacular in taste and texture.
We were fortunate to be able to meet the handsome and delightful Chef Dan who looked after everyone beautifully that evening with a smile and a calm demeanor! HOW? He was cooking for so many guests! Then, the fabulous owner, Jim Carreker, did a 'walk around' with his gorgeous glass of red in hand and a huge, broad smile while chatting with the guests and, no doubt, thanking them for dining with him. Jim is a complete JOY and his wife Helen...an absolute angel. They love what they have created and the locals and the regional and international visiters 'remain WOWED'! WE ADORE WHAT THEY continue to do well ~ year after year.
You can either choose from a 5 course set menu OR you may wish to choose your very own individual 'selections' menu. Prepared to spend a good amount of time on the wine list - trust me - it will be 'difficult decision making', but YOU WILL FIND A PEARL.
Appellation will be closed for the month of July. They will return 'bigger and better' with an expanded bar and dining room extension. We cannot wait to experience the 'new' Appellation.
Whether you are a dessert person or not - does not matter - once the warm, aromatic, hand-made doughnuts pass by your table...you will be hooked. On top of that you will be presented with a lovely, custom designed wooden box filled with homemade glorious toppings to slather across your delectable delight. Oooooh ~ GO AHEAD - you can jog it off in the morning ~ worth every morsel.
I shall leave you with THAT THOUGHT...
As soon as Appellation reopens - make a booking. Spend the night. Experience the Barossa Valley. Life is too short.
Blanco, the 'explorer of dining experiences' of THE ROAMING STEVENS! If Tinto added to this blog he would be DESCRIBING THE VIRTUES OF THE SOUTH OF FRANCE. Well, SOMEONE has to do it!
