Why?

Never would I have imagined that placing a heartfelt post for the loved ones murdered in our neighbouring New Zealand would have people responding in so many conflicting ways.

Animals, on some days, receive a much higher rating in my book...than humans!  For the most part, like many, I love people until I have a reason not to do so.  I do not care what colour people are.  I do not care if they worship in a synagogue, a mosque, or a church.  Do you think for one minute I would have responded any differently if Christians or Jews had been slaughtered in New Zealand instead of Muslims?  OUTRAGEOUS.  A loss is a loss.  A family is missing a beloved member - a community is missing an integral facet to the community - a country is suffering.  PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SLAUGHTERED in their place of worship, at their most vulnerable time.

Folks are complaining in the States that Christians killed in Africa did not receive proper media attention. Well, perhaps that is true in the States, but we have PBS/SBS or BBC here in Australia and we received the shocking and horrific news.  Still.  A loss is a loss.  Killings of Christians, killings of Muslims, killings of Jews...are killings - murder.  WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES A RELIGION MAKE?  Is the argument still...'My God is better than yours?  STOP.  Think.

Then...there are posts throughout social media stating no one is paying proper attention to the floods in Nebraska where people and livestock have been lost and the fact that the area has been totally and completely devastated.  So...I ask you:  Is Nebraska's natural disasater worse than Townsville's disaster in Australia?  NO.  THE ANSWER IS CLEARLY AND PLAINLY 'No'.  Loss of human life, loss of livestock, family pets, and property is a horrendous LOSS.  And, is anyone talking about the fact that a cyclone just drowned Mozambique?  They just experienced the rath of Mother Nature, too. This is not a competition, folks.  This is NOT:  'Our loss is bigger and more important than yours.'  OUTRAGEOUS.

And, of course, loss by Mother Nature is a completely different catastrophe than mass murders committed by people.

The fact that people from around the world are responding to New Zealanders shows that not everyone has become 'numbed' by gun violence.

Humans have to find a way to support one another ~  and come together.  We need tolerance like we have never needed it before.

Human beings throughout the world are more similar than different.  When will we GET this notion?  The science is already there.  But, people only believe the science they want to believe - the science that makes them 'feel' safe and secure.

Sadly and regrettably, I have come to understand, that people in our neighbourhood, our community, and some of my dearest mates scattered throughout the world, and in the States are grieving terribly for the country they 'used' to know - the white Australia, the white America...and if you think that it life is 'going back to the way you remember and love'...I hope you can soon find a way to readjust your way of thinking.  Are you imagining that countries are going to rid themselves of the people you find most undesirable?  Some of you cannot even tolerate the first people inhabiting this Australian land...is your solution to 'ship them elsewhere', too?  Differences only make our culture and society more vibrant and rich and make us (collectively) stronger and brighter and more resilient.

It would be kind and compassionate...if everyone took a proper moment to stop, breathe, and think.  Is hate really your only anwer?  Is intolerance and bullying going to reverse the way the world is heading?  NO.

Hatred is not the way.  Violence is never the answer.  Tolerance and understanding is a necessity.

John Lennon ~ Where are you when we need you?  'IMAGINE' ~ A mad man took John Lennon away from US and...

Only mad men would take the lives of humans in New Zealand and Africa away from US.  Mad men afraid; mad men insecure about the world in which they live and its future.  WHEN HAS VIOLENCE ever served a true purpose?  How have these killings changed anything?  The worst part is that the killings only serve the narcissistic personality of the murderers.  These killers wasted their lives (their gift) that was given to them and served no purpose...only committing heinous acts out of insecurities and great fear.

I do think because New Zealand is known for its beauty and peace and has been conflict free for so long, that this latest massacre sent shock-waves throughout the world.

And, now...callous people want to insult and condemn the greatest response I have ever witnessed a leader of a country produce for its people in their time of mourning ~ Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern of New Zealand has more grace and presence, compassion and understanding, in her little finger...than most of us could hope for in a lifetime.  She is an outstanding and shining example for all mankind.  For past decades I have been screaming from the mountain tops and writing television stations and emailing newspapers - pleading/begging for the media NOT to show the face or say the name of the terrorist and Jacinda Ardern has acted brilliantly.  I remember when Tinto and I were in England and I left a message on a morning television news show and received a phone call later that afternoon explaining that 'they' HAVE to say the terrorists' name/s because the public demands they do so.  I think the media thinks their 'ratings' will shoot up if they are the first to report a name.

Living in the light...breathing and pausing and thinking before speaking...is the only path to peace.  What are you so afraid of?  WHY?

Sad.  Beyond Sad.  And, it is understood the people who really need to digest this - to consider and reflect - stopped reading after the first paragraph because their 'door has already closed'.
