A great way to start YOUR Saturday!
It's been years ~ over 4 years since I have visited the Barossa Farmers Market! We weren't 3 feet in the door and a 'Happy Hello' came from a great mate we have not seen in years - what a SUPER feeling that was to experience.
My how it has GROWN; it looks inviting, enticing, fun, and fantastic. It is a very welcoming place ~ GO and see for yourself.
For all visitors travelling to South Australia ~ we thank you ~ Adelaide is beautiful and filled with vibrant restaurants and some super sight seeing, but...PLEASE...if you are in this great state on a Saturday, get your bottoms to the Barossa Farmers Market, too.
It's a gem ~ a real little piece of food heaven!
Nothing touches Adelaide's Central Market, I know...but, regionally and rurally speaking, the Barossa Farmers Market is the next best thing! I used to tell Tinto when I first migrated to South Australia that I wanted a small flat in the city so I could wander over to Adelaide Central Market in the morning, but now we have our own market in the country EVERY SATURDAY. It's a covered market so business goes on rain or shine! It is open on Saturday from 7:30am until 11:30am. Some items (like free-range eggs) run out early so it's best to get there as soon as you can. 9:00am or 10:00 is the earliest I'll ever be there, but there is a huge selection of fresh breads, fruits, veggies, beef, pork, chicken, lamb, venison, olive oils, balsamic vinaigrettes, YOU name it ~ if it's edible...it's probably there. You can also purchase a selection of fresh herbs to plant and collect some fancy succulents, too.
Try a big country breakfast, take the entire family for some genuine fun, forget about a coffee at home - you will need and want your own coffee from the market as you meander around the stalls looking at the delicacies and listening to live music. Yep - that's right - live music in the mornings. A really talented guy was singing about MEMPHIS and that certainly caused me to pause and smile yesterday morning.
The market has a nice buzz. No one is pushing you to purchase; some stall owners may invite you over, but they are proud and enthusiastic about their product and most of the vendors offer a sampling - a tasty treat for your tasty buds~! TRY IT. If you have any questions - ASK THEM - they want to tell you everything about how they got their product from their home or their farm and decided it was well worth presenting at the Barossa Farmers Market. The stories alone will make you want to go back for MORE!
So, the day began with an early morning trip to the market that was filled with visual delights and astronomical aromas followed by a quick pick up of a precious, tiny, and much needed marble table that I rounded up on Gumtree.
We returned home and hopped right back into the renovations on Maxwell House energized by a brilliant beginning to the day.
YOU are going to have to turn your head because I can't

Proud Dad, John, with beautiful daughter AND some darn good OLIVE OIL, too!

these great guys from NOW ON!
Tinto got to choose the olive oil this time...
Home made and I can tell YOU ~ fabulous!
Sweets for the sweet; go AHEAD...INDULGE.

ROTATE THIS PHOTO ~ Durn it!
We ventured into the outside area; people relaxing,
enjoying a chat and a coffee and listening to the music.
LOOK HOW LOVELY! We could not resist; had to have some
purple cauliflower.
"Blanco, I'm not certain if I have any more cash!"
Such a nice treat - simple and hugely enjoyable morning.
Turn THAT HEAD of yours again, 'cuz, I can't find that blasted ROTATE button!
I thought Tinto and I were a bit late, but the people
kept arriving.
Happy Saturday~! Happy Market Day~!
See the guitar? See the couple? There they are and they're singing about MEMPHIS, TOO!
Time to grab a take-away coffee...
SEE YOU the NEXT TIME.
This will be served for dinner tonight.
