A Blogger.

Only the other day on fb I posted a very special TED TALK video featuring Celeste Headlee - 10 Ways to Have a Better Conversation.  I cannot get this woman out of my head.  Celeste made a huge impression.  This video should be made available in schools, high schools, universities, corporations, PRIVATE HOMES!  Ha!  It is such a simple message.  Celeste delivers it eloquently and she has this voice that commands attention; she has an inviting, calm, reassuring, and welcoming voice.  Then, of course, I discovered that she is in radio - national radio.  Am I the only person whom has not heard of this down to earth, brilliant human being before?  Doesn't matter.  When you get the time or the chance, NO, better yet, make the time to listen to Celeste.  I posted on fb I wanted her as my friend and/or my neighbor.  What a treat that would be.  I dream.  I dream a lot.

So, while listening and watching, Celeste threw me a curve ball.  Rather she tossed out a punch and it hit me directly in the face.  She made me think.  Celeste was trying to explain that if a person really did not care about listening or understanding or keeping an open mind to thoughts and ideas that were directly in opposition to theirs and if that person wanted no feedback whatsoever - that particular person should become a blogger.

My mouth fell open.

Yes, I got it.  I did listen.  I heard her.  Then I checked out a few other bloggers quickly.  Most were about travel, travel combined with the love of surfing, restaurants and fine dining (because we are all critics, aren't we?), new mothers trying to navigate their very complicated and stressful, yet beautiful new existences, funny animals, etc.  I dashed through these blogs and, yes, opinions were posted - fast, quick, witty, some sounded a tiny bit arrogant, others were just happy as a bean to be where the were on the planet, still others were complaining about wanting something, anything to be different or better.

People. I crave comments.  If you read between the lines I have typed in the middle of the night or the early morning or in Spain or Portugal or Athens, Georgia, or Kapunda, South Australia, I want to hear from you.  The original purpose of this blog was to let my dear family members and my closest circle of friends know where we were travelling on the planet and to share the fun and excitement and thrill of the adventure WITH THEM...with YOU.  Tinto and I will still be roaming a bit, here and there, but we are well and truly entrenched in the restoration of The Maxwell House and living real life and conducting work.  I treasure life.  I know what loss is and I want to squeeze out every single moment that has been given to me.

AND...GUESS WHAT?  I LOVE TO WRITE.  I adore words.  This blog is not going anywhere unless I die.

Pouring my heart out about something that excites me or intrigues me or angers me or changes my mind - is what I do.  I do my damned best to stay away from politics on fb and I do try to keep this blog upbeat and positive and sometimes a bit educational because there is enough drama and negativity and horror in this world at the moment.  Wouldn't you agree?

But, PLEASE know that if you agree, if you laugh, if you have a tear or two, if I made you angry for some reason, I would like very much to read your COMMENT.  If you look below each post there is a 'COMMENT' section.  That particular space is not exercised enough.

It is not my intention to PUT WORDS out there so they are never challenged or questioned.  I would like to imagine that some (perhaps only a few?) think about the posts I have written.

My hope is that I have enticed you to visit Almunecar, Spain or Amsterdam, or Ireland. These particular spots left a huge imprint on my soul.  Europe is such a grand place to tour because whenever you cross a border you are exposed to a new culture, a different language, and other unique, quite spectacular landscapes.

Trust me.  I type the way I talk.  I might appear to be an out-put device, but let me reassure you - THE INPUT IS WHAT GETS ME GOING.

I woke up to another day in Australia where the politics are absolutely shocking.

See?  THIS IS WHY I WRITE.
