Sharing.

HOW MANY times have you been asked, 'Did you hear me?'  And, then...the older you get you understand completely the difference between hearing and actually listening.  I made a vow when Tinto and I returned to our Australian home that I would truly listen because I did just that on our overseas trip ~ our adventure!  Every spoken word felt meaningful...why?  WHY?  Was it simply because we wore both over excited at the wonderment of what was ahead of us...the sheer anticipation of what was to be?  I don't have any idea, but it did seem  that we hung on to each other's words and those words held importance.  Tinto and I are like other couples as we fall into a daily routine which can be tedious at times, but crucial if you want to manage a home properly.   When he enters the house I stop - to listen.  Hell, we can't hear properly anyway, so perhaps I'm stopping in order to WATCH HIS LIPS, too = helpful when trying to comprehend the English.  (Did I actually type that?)  So, listening is high on my priority list these days...

Last night I found a book of my Mother's that I slipped into my luggage so I could have it when I returned to Australia.  The words, 'I'm old' do not pass my lips these days - EVER.  I do, however, state the plain truth and say, 'I'm older.'  That's appropriate and that's all you will get.

So, this morning I'm sharing.  I DO LIKE TO SHARE.  SHARING IS NICE and it's good for the soul when you come across some pearls of wisdom or an absolute GEM of a combination of words.  Some words are especially exhilarating for me and I like when words force me to imagine or to form different opinions from those that I have harbored for so long.

The book is called:  Old Age is Always 15 Years Older Than I Am
Author:  Randy Vorhees

It is a light collection of quotes from notable contemporaries and others...

HAVE FUN ~ DIGEST A FEW OF THESE; GIVE THEM A LITTLE PONDER!  ENJOY.

I have no romantic feelings about age.  Either you are interesting at any age or you are not.  There is nothing particularly interesting about being old - - - or about being young for that matter.
- Katherine Hepburn, U.S. actress

I love everything that's old ~ old friends, old times, old manners, old books, old wine.
- Oliver Goldsmith, English essayist, poet and novelist

You end up as you deserve.  In old age you must put up with the face, the friends, the health, the children you have earned.
- Fay Weldon, English novelist

The French are true romantics.  They feel the only difference between a man of forty and one of seventy is thirty years of experience.
- Maurice Chevalier, French actor and singer

Men reach their sexual peak at eighteen.  Women reach theirs at forty-five.  Do you get the feeling that God is playing a practical joke?
- Rita Rudner, U.S. comedian, essayist, and actress

If in the last few years you haven't discarded a major opinion or acquired a new one, check your pulse.  You may be dead.
- Gelett Burgess, U.S. writer, poet, humorist, and illustrator

I have everything now that I had twenty years ago, except now it's all lower.
- Gypsy Rose Lee, U.S. exotic dancer

The invention of the teenager was a mistake.  Once you identify a period of life in which people get to stay out late, but don't have to pay taxes - - - naturally, no one wants to live any other way.
- Judith Martin, U.S. author and journalist

Older women are best because they always think they may be doing it for the last time.
- Ian Fleming, English writer

I have always thought the aging process could be slowed down if it had to work its
way through Congress.
- George H. W. Bush, U.S. president

Sex after ninety is like trying to shoot pool with a rope.
- George Burns, U.S. comedian and actor

An archaeologist is the best husband any woman can have; the older she gets, the more interested he is in her.
- Agatha Christie, English writer

One should never make one's debut with a scandal; one should reserve that to give interest to one's old age.
- Oscar Wilde, Irish wit, poet, and dramatist

And, on that note I shall LEAVE you to absorb some of these fine and witty words.
