Kapunda, Down Unda', Not far from Tanunda, and close to Eudunda!

'WOW' ~ It IS great to be amongst our Australian mates again.

Isn't it a super feeling when you've been away to return and find that you are still just as close to the people in your life you have not seen IN YEARS?  THAT'S ONE OF THE BEST FEELINGS ON THIS PLANET.

Tinto and I are going like mad on Maxwell House.  Trying to catch up with everyone we want to see...it's hard...when the kitchen is a building site, a swag is on the bedroom floor, appliances are breaking one by one!

We have been dealing with 34 Celsius which is over 93 Farenheit.  Not today.  The last few days have been rainy, really windy and overcast.

But, imagine trying to paint a home with no air conditioning and it's 34 or more outside?  That's exactly what Tinto was attempting to do a few days ago.  So, what happened?  He said a few grumpy words and took off all of his clothes and painted in his birthday suit.  Yep. Rightio.  That's what you do.  Tinto painted 'au naturel' for 2 days and I promised him he would not have his fav cocktail when 5:00 hit IF he did not at least put on a sarong.  He frowned, but complied.  We enjoyed a beautifully new, painted kitchen and sipped on a durn good Bloody Mary.

I do not know how windy it's been outside of Kapunda, but it's been blowing a gale here.  Tinto was on a small ladder in the kitchen installing a brand new range-hood (YIPPPPEEEEEE!) AND all of the sudden, I heard a shriek.  The next thing I know, Tinto is frantically grabbing wood, iron, clamps...all sorts of bits and pieces and he ran to the fence line and started holding back 2 sections of our fence.  WHAAAAAT?  It can't be enough that we are refurbishing the entire Maxwell House, but the outside has to GIVE OUT, too?  I could not believe what I was seeing.  The wind was hurling objects (building stuff), swirling items around the yard and Tinto had to deal with this while working on the kitchen.  It.  never.  stops.

But, it WILL feel like a brand new, outstanding, fabulous, lovely, warm and welcoming Maxwell House when we are finished.  My dreams don't stop.  I see a new structure in the yard; I see 'that' other new development on the other side of the yard, too!  I see an extension of our bedroom in the future.  Tinto says he gets tired just listening to me.

The smallest house I have ever lived in, yet it is THE only home where I've been truly happy.

BIG does NOT equal BETTER.  This is when I want to sing the 'Na-na-na-na-nuuuu-nuuuu' song, but I shall refrain.  I typed it instead.

Kapunda is an amazing, small, and very old town.  IF you don't know about its history; I will fill you in on the details in another soon to be written post.  The details are delightful.

Many articles lately about the feral camels roaming this great land AND the wild donkeys.  I bet you did not realize that we have a huge problem with these creatures.  And...did you ever read about the RABBITS that once hopped across this magnificent piece of terrain?  I bet you did not know that those 'silly wabbits' caused enormous consternation and destruction.  WABBITS basically took over and called Australia their own.

Now there is a debate going around stating Australians do not KNOW HOW TO PRONOUNCE AUSTRALIA properly.  Even journalists/broadcasters are saying 'Austraya'.  It ain't right.  Nope, it just ain't.  Ha!  We are not even supposed to say:  'Osssssstralia'.  Well, Hell, with my accent I don't see how I am ever going to get country pronounced correctly.

 G'Day, Matie!
Congratulations and 'Well Done' to new management team.
Thank you for all of your hard work.
Home away from home on a windy, rainy day.
Music was wonderful; only a bit loud and we wanted
to 'catch up' with some locals and the news around town.
 HAPPY HENS' CORNER!
BIG SMILES = BIG, FUN AFTERNOON.

I must go and practice my pronunciation of 'Austraaaaaaliaaaaaa.'

PS:  I cannot wait to walk to the Reserve...I hope it's just as beautiful as it used to be.  Wish we could hold outdoor concerts there.
