Country AND City!

That's the way I like it; a little bit of the city AND lots of the country.

Kapunda has turned chilly ~ really cold.  The mornings are a bit unbearable if the sun isn't shining.  Yes, area dreadfully needs the rain and lots of it.

Mornings too cold for me to go for a stomp, so Henry and I head off a bit before noon IF the sun is smiling.

Tinto is working like a mad dog and the more he builds the messier Maxwell House becomes.  I am pleased with the progress, but remember, Bewitched?  There are times when I think, 'If I could just twitch my nose...!'  Not going to happen.

Now, I want to do a bit of promoting here ~ never in my years of living in South Australia have I heard of D.S. Horne Pty. Ltd. ~ WHAT A SURPRISE!  They have a bit of everything.  You know how most of us collect regional or international visitors and take them to the Adelaide Central Markets because the buzz is so good there?  Well, we should continue to do that, BUT...I had NO CLUE that D. S. Horne sold a bit of this, a tad of that, and heaps of leather goods on top of it.   You can find floppy leather, genuine Australian hats, and belts, and lovely purses.  The price range of UGG boots is all over the place (at least, in South Australia) and some of the boots are outrageously expensive,  but they are SUCH GREAT BOOTS.  Go and have a look at D.S. Horne.  Daniel carries all types of souvenirs when you have guests visiting! The UGG boot pricing is fair.  I think you'll be happy and most pleasantly surprised.  We (I) needed some cowhide to cover some cushions for a hand-made bench and I have been madly researching throughout the country.  WHY?  Well, that's exactly what I asked myself after I found Daniel.  And, Ladies...let me share with you...go and say 'Hello' to Daniel, the honey of a man, the funny, good-looking 'bigger than life' bloke with a massive amount of dark, thick hair and a gorgeous, white grin who runs the whole show - Dapper Dan.  He'll make you smile.  He has a lot of items in his store for you to peruse.  THE BEST PART:  there is a bargain basement, too!  (It's not really a basement, but if you are looking for something that doesn't have to be absolutely perfect - the discount section is where you want to be~!)  And...let me give you another very helpful hint.  IF YOU TRY to haggle (I wouldn't dare - how could you even suggest it?!?) - Daniel will make sure he raises the price!  Don't haggle - pricing is good OR, do as you wish - but, don't say I didn't warn YOU!  Check out the store.  I'll give you the website here, but that is not going to show you the wide variety of Australian goods they have on offer:

It is amazing (to me) that I have lived in South Australia for such a long time and there are still places to discover - little gems - everywhere!

I get equally as surprised walking through the roads in Kapunda.    When Henry and I go for a stomp I never know where we'll finish and the walks are always interesting because of the old, historic mining houses sprinkled throughout the town.  IF I couldn't visit Adelaide I would be disappointed, but if I lived there every day, I'm not sure I would like it as much.  I suppose I won't know until it happens...or WHEN it happens I should say.  I do not think any amount of gentle coaxing will get Tinto away from the terracotta terrain of Kapunda.

Earth.  Land.  Country.

Stirs the soul.

 The Maxwell Garden.
Buds all over the place ~ I keep telling them
Ole' Man Winter is on his way.  Bloody Hell, He's HERE and
they continue to BLOOM!
This bud is WAY over my head; had to get a little ladder~!
Neighbour's yard - the MOST beautiful corn-flower blue,
but the sun...the light (or the photographer) did not capture it well.
On our way home and Henry will NOT stop with me anymore.
I barked at Henry.  He barked back.
These are the last 2 little pops of colour before
going to wide, open spaces.
 SWEET.  Really sweet...
Henry is happy. I wanted to let him off the lead SO badly,
but Kapunda is strict.  He was making ME run at this point!
 Maybe we'll return tomorrow.
I wonder WHERE I could let Henry run free?  Running makes him SMILE!
Literally...
Wish I had some photos of Daniel and his shop, but I felt a little weird asking...NOT USUALLY, NO, not sure why, but I refrained.  So, you're left with
these lovely roses instead.

I can, AT LEAST, include one purchase from Daniel's shop!

Go SEE 'Dapper Dan, The Man', at D.S. Horne and GET OUT
in your own back yard and discover the true
beauty of Kapunda and its surroundings.

Posted by the warm and toasty pot-bellied stove with gratefulness.
Very happy I'm married to MY MAN, Tinto, working his MAGIC
on Maxwell.  Grateful, too, that Tinto doesn't get 'round to reading each and every post.
HA!
Cheers from the Cheeky One ~ that would be
Blanco, of The Roaming Stevens.
My favourite spot in the early evenings.

PS:  Please excuse all typos.
