The First Born...
The 5th of June will always be one of the BIGGEST and MOST IMPORTANT 'FIRSTS' for me.
My FIRST BORN child, Kelley Lynn, came into this world a startling 2 months early...AND...feet first. She came in arching her back, seriously, and kicking furiously. That never stopped. Her feet barely touched the ground when she began walking.
Anyone who saw Kelley water ski for the first time never saw her feet hit the water either. How she kept them up in the air - above water - mostly - was quite a sight. Kelley couldn't see in the water and couldn't be sure if there were snakes or other scary critters, so she tried to remain ABOVE the water at all costs. Kelley knows how to skirt around and over things; she is GOOD at that AND lightning fast.
So, today I am hoping some surprises I've organized for my FIRST are delivered properly and bring her some joy that she dearly deserves.
I thank my lucky stars that we made it through the crazy and tough times, the sad times, and the unexpected bumps that life threw our way.
I thank my lucky stars that Kelley is an excellent Mother and shares her precious child with me whenever we can be together.
I thank my lucky stars that my FIRST has such an excellent work ethic and tries her best to bring joy into the lives of the people whom she adores.
I thank my lucky stars that Kelley cares about others and goes out of her way to make goodies or little treats for people needing a lift.
I thank my lucky stars that Kelley finally discovered the love of DOGS...dog ~ a dog named Toby. It took her long enough, but she got there in the end.
I thank my lucky stars that Kelley has a smile that draws people in and that she can give a back rub that will make you think you have landed in heaven.
I thank my lucky stars that Kelley can move like the wind and drives a car like a male. I don't know why I thank my lucky stars about that, but...it is true ~ I feel extremely safe and protected when I'm a passenger in Kelley's car. I just happen to really like the way she drives!
I thank my lucky stars that Kelley knows the importance of letting it out...letting it all out when she feels like it and Lordy, I'm thankful she gets these episodes over quickly.
I thank my lucky stars that my FIRST can be meaner than a junk yard dog if or when a situation calls for it. I like that.
I thank my lucky stars that my daughter can play a shrewd game of pool. Why? Because it's friggin' FUN.
I thank my lucky stars that I can call Kelley Lynn MY FIRST born baby girl.
Above all things, I thank my lucky stars that my FIRST born was savvy enough, thoughtful enough, kind and considerate enough to RAISE HER HAND and take up the position of my Mother's caregiver in my absence; a monumental task and one Kelley handled with aplomb.
I thank my lucky stars that the universe thought highly enough of me to present Kelley TO ME as my FIRST real gift. A GIFT. A LIFE. MY GIFT. MY LIFE. MY FIRST CHILD.
A collection of strong women.

YES...we love all of our children, but...
then...there's your FIRST BORN and the feeling of love is overwhelming.
Why? Because it's a FIRST ~ HOW SIMPLY THRILLING - nothing can touch that sensation or feeling of love that radiates throughout your body and soul quite like your FIRST.
