Review: aTASCADO...Taberna/Restaurant - Alvor, Portugal

Quick, pleasurable review.  This inviting and luxurious place is only a little over 1 year old.  It was derelict and abandoned for 18 years!  It used to be a fishermen's coffee house.  Bar remained in same spot.  Some tables were refurbished and used and the interior old, stone wall remained, although revamped.  Tinto and I were exploring town centre on foot and would never have discovered it, except for the fact an English woman met us at an intersection of alleyways and invited us to try.  Normally, we do not do that...but, she pointed to a soft, blue light in the dark alley and it seemed intriguing.  Host most welcoming.  They had been closed for 2 weeks due to off-season and had only reopened.  We were only guests  for a while, but 8:30pm is considered early for dining.  Felt like a 5-Star place, servers do not hover, check in at appropriate times, food, hot, fresh, divine...and a good assortment of wines.  Mains began at around 8.50 Euros and tapas is on the menu, too.  They are already booked out for New Year's Eve.  GO...if you get the chance.

COMPLIMENTARY regional Portugese sherry presented at end of meal. Delightful!
