Sines, Sines...Everywhere Sines! NOT SINS, Portugal...
Not often do you come across a city named 'Sins'...and we still have not! Whenever Tinto would write (and long ago, fax) to my precious Mother, Judy, he would address his communication to: M.I.L. (Mother-in-Law) and Mom, in return would refer to Tinto as S.I.L. (Son-in-Law). It became their thing; I had nothing to do with it, but it always made us chuckle. One letter Tinto inadvertently signed as S.I.N. and Mother rang me and had a very good giggle. From that point on...Tinto was referred to as S.I.N. S.I.N stuck like glue, I'm sad to report. Family funny stuff! ANYWAY, we were ready to begin Roaming again and Tinto said, 'Let's go to SINS. How can we travel through a city with a name like that without stopping?' Well...I could give you a hundred reasons? At least, 10!!! Anyway, I agreed. We were getting closer and closer...no SIGN of SINS. Then, MANY signs of Sines appeared! YES, confusing, but I am having MORE difficulty typing this, I assure you! We had announced to our new mates at last campground that we were proudly going to visit SINS and everybody laughed. I looked over at Tinto and asked, 'Are you sure it said Sins?' He replied, 'Yeah, I think...but, you take the map.' Well, NO, No...there is NO town or city blamed for their Sins OR named after them, but we discovered a GREAT place named Sines. Go...check it out; you will enjoy, TOO.
Hand-made white, green, fuschia pitcher. Fell. In. Love. She had to stay behind. We have NO need for any more of anything...but, take much pleasure in gazing!
Nice church door.
An old relic FOR SALE!
Another old ruin; I wanted in, but no access.
View at highest spot on hill in oldest section of town! NICE!
Okay...this is creative, smart graffiti - See? 2 steel drainpipes sticking out of wall and an artistic GENIUS walks by. Ha! CLEVER.
A 'feel' for Sines...
More blue AND more balconies...
Soft, pale attractive colours for homes...
Laundry day - everyday. Clothes hanging everywhere in city!
She was a bit strange, but attempts at Christmas beginning everywhere we ROAM.
Not my best photo, but ENTIRE front of home covered in terracotta and bottle green coloured tiles. Quite amazing to see and touch. Bet his neighbours are ticked off...his/her home REALLY stood out
Very powerful on this morning; sound was extremely loud!
The Mighty Atlantic.
Her softer side...
View from scooter on the way into Sines, Portugal.
Castelo de Sines, Medieval fortress, built high upon a cliff and helped to protect occupations since the Paleolithic. It was built half-way during the 15th century, unbelievably small, half a hectare. We were told the village surrounding it was already too large to allow expansion of the fortress. Hmmmm...
Tinto and I walked the steep and uneven steps, purposely built to ensure intruders had an extremely difficult time getting to the top, and the VIEWS were worth the effort.
Every direction from the top you can enjoy exquisite sights!
Bright, refreshing village below...
I bent over as far as possible to snap the old, stone wall!
Busy little port, but so very peaceful and calming.
Hands and eyes...SO difficult to draw (to me).
Have NO clue, but Tinto got the locals laughing. Enquiring minds want to know, so I went in to investigate. Superb silk lingerie below these prissy legs! Nicest woman ever owned shop. She could not understand me; I could not comprehend her...so, we pointed and smiled. I left proudly with my new, FOREVER lasting, silken Portugese small purchase. I blew a big raspberry to Tinto.
Guess which company runs this area? Coca-Cola lost their battle here.Hand-made white, green, fuschia pitcher. Fell. In. Love. She had to stay behind. We have NO need for any more of anything...but, take much pleasure in gazing!
Yes, by now you KNOW how we admire these roads...
Closer look. Colours are subtle, yet wonderful.
Tinto's favourite piece of graffiti thus far. I did NOT even spot it, but...clearly Tinto DID. !!!
View from other side of town from some old ruins...Nice church door.

Thanking You, Sines...
What a delightful spot
on our planet - warm, inviting, and special. Host/hostesses gave exquisite customer service. Check it out: Portugal voted only recently TOP European country to visit. Shall attempt to research and find link... after I go have some FUN roaming.
Posted Sincerely,
Tinto & Blanco of
