Review: Chez Eugene Roland - Route 66 Moncarapacho, Portugal

I do believe I owe Route 66 an apology.  In previous posts I think I spelled Roland (above-subject) with a 'w'.  Sorry!  The place is hard enough to find even with name spelled correctly.

Could not locate this campground on Trip Advisor...I wanted to add it, but I could not obtain proper postal code either.

IF, Happy Roamers, you are in search of shiney, new, sparkling, contemporary facilities with a laundromat - GO - continue looking.

IF, however, you want a rustic, fun, eclectic, artsy-fartsy place which has a manager who will bend over backwards to get you anything you may need - GO FOR IT.

Sheep, geese, horses, ponies, chickens, cacti...very primitive loo and shower; 1 each for male/female...and I was told an emu inhabited these grounds.  You will see art hanging or displayed all around - including old boat on a mound of earth and an older Mercedes planted on a hill!

Owners are French and Chantal is a STAR; she speaks many languages.  You will meet Belgiums, Germans, Croations, British tourists and more! Funky bar with lovely cocktails by an ample campfire, if needed.  You may even receive an invitation to a community lunch - GO - have one of THE BEST afternoons of your life

Would we return?  In a heartbeat and may do so for Christmas.  We ARE members of the Caravan Club, however, we have discovered we prefer alternative, off the beaten track campgrounds!  You meet the most interesting people...that has been our experience!

Posting pics - no need for words.  Go have fun @ Route 66 for 10.00 Euros a night, electricity included!  'WOW'!  This deal probably will not last forever!

GRACIAS, MERCI, OBLIGADO, Dear Chantal.

Tinto & Blanco of The Roaming Stevens

We give it 4 STARS! ☆☆☆☆

More pics for FUN in following post to give you a feel for this warm and wonderful campground.
Happy Roaming,
Stay safe, but above all, relax and enjoy the adventure!
